Edwin Skett

Skett was killed in action on 4 October 1917 in Flanders, he had been home on leave in September. He is buried at Tyne Cot memorial cemetery. He served in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and reached the rank of Lance Corporal. Skett was born in 1893 to Ada Skett, who it would seem was a single parent. He is listed in the 1911 Census as living with his mother and grandparents at 265, Bristol Road, Northfield. His was a toolmaker in the motor trade, working for Austin Motor Works in Northfield, before enlisting for the war. He was described by the Birmingham Daily Mail as a fine cross-country runner

The CWGC certificate confirms the details although his home address is different to that listed in the 1911 Census. He was killed the same day as Frank Hussey possibly in the same action. The Battle of Broodseinde.
