Initial research suggests 2 Birchfield Harriers died together on the same day – possibly in the same action. Frank Hussey and Edwin Skett were both serving in the Royal Warwickshire regiment, who were based in Belgium, and both were killed on October 4th, 1917.
HLF Grant for “Running between the Lines” confirmed.
We are pleased to announce we have been successful in our application for grant support for our WW1 project “Running between the Lines”. This will allow us to be able to do more research on the lives of the 253 Birchfield members who took part in the war. The first thing we are doing is looking for a part-time researcher / community manager to help with the project further details on our project page – applications close on August 20th.
Web pages of Sporting Tales exhibition almost complete!
All but 2 of the Sporting Tales stories and pictures are now on the website. Last two will be added by the end of the week. Please share the link with anyone who may enjoy the tales.

we’ve added more of the stories and pictures from the Sporting Tales exhibition on the first floor of the Alexander Stadium, so you can now browse them on line. By the end of next week they should all be available from links on the Sporting Tales page. If you want to nominate more famous Birchfield athletes to feature in the exhibition please send your suggestions to the Sporting Tales team.

Ruth and I are working on the site.
Ruth is creating some excellent pages with fascinating facts about Birchfield members who were involved in World War One and I am messing about with the website trying to get the pages into a workable structure – and probably driving Ruth mad by changing things so she can’t find them!
